As part of your Quest Plus Assessment you now have the opportunity to try and achieve the ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation.
Overview
The ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation is the ASA’s ‘quality mark’.
- It is designed for swimming providers who continuously review and develop their programme in line with ASA good practice guidelines and want to access a quality mark for service provision.
- It is also a development tool to support the continuous improvement of learn to swim programmes.
- It sets industry standards for the delivery of learn to swim and can assure parents, customers and leisure managers that good practice is being implemented.
The ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation is available to anyone who runs a learn to swim programme and feels that they are delivering good practice. Swim schools, school swimming programmes, local authority operators, leisure trusts and private leisure providers can all apply.
In order to achieve ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation, sites must be able to demonstrate they are implementing the accreditation criteria. It is recommended that sites download the criteria first and consider whether their service provision reaches the required standard before applying. How to achieve the ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation
The accreditation can be achieved in one of two ways; either directly through the ASA and its partnership with Right Directions, or as part of the Quest Plus assessment process.
Individual Accreditation
A stand-alone assessment is available through the ASA and Right Directions for sites who just want to accredit their learn to swim programme. This may be more relevant for swim schools, schools or local authority leisure providers. Assessment Days involve a site visit by an independent assessor and once the site has reached the required standard the accreditation is valid for two years.
In order to achieve the accreditation as part of Quest you are required to meet all of the criteria in SPLUS28 ASA Learn to Swim module and score at least 'Good' in SPLUS20 Swimming Lessons. The guidance notes and preparation forms for these two modules can be found below:

Multi-site Accreditation
This involves a selected number of facilities going through the ASA module, in order for the whole organisation to achieve the award.
The number of centres that will need to achieve the accreditation is as follows:
- Organisations with between 4 to 14 sites - 3 Centres will be assessed
- Organisations with 15 plus sites - 20% of the organisations’ Centres will be assessed
Each of the selected centres can decide to go through the ASA module as part of a Quest Plus Assessment or as a standalone.
